Wittdün (Amrum)

Wittdün is the harbour village of Amrum island, sitting at the southern tip where the Wyker Dampfschiffs ferries arrive. Amrum is the quietest of the three North Frisian islands — barely built up, with the famous "Kniepsand", a 10 km² migrating sand expanse between the inner dunes and the sea, larger than all the island villages combined. From the Wittdün lighthouse the panorama spans dunes, forest and tidal flat. Between Wittdün and Nebel, heath, juniper and salt marsh alternate — perfect cycling country. Highlights: the Öömrang Hüs heritage museum, Wadden Sea boat tours, the surf beach at Norddorf.
