Baltrum

Baltrum is the smallest of the inhabited East Frisian Islands — 6.5 km², 500 inhabitants, car-free, one village whose streets have numbers instead of names. To see Baltrum: walk five minutes from the harbour to the village, ten more to the beach, and that's roughly the whole island. That compactness is the appeal: 7 km of beach with only a handful of beach chairs, no island train, no souvenir-shop row. A family insider tip.
