Friedrichskoog sits on the open Dithmarschen coast and is famous for its Seal Rescue Station — the only one in Schleswig-Holstein raising orphaned pups. To see young seals close up without disturbing them: a 360° pool with glass walls and live feeding times. Beyond that: Friedrichskoog-Spitze (a long sandy beach by the former harbour), the Trischendamm tidal flat with guided walks towards Trischen island, and the friendly village centre. Dogs allowed at the Spitze. Get there: 25 min by car from Heide.
