Norddeich (Norden)

Norddeich is East Frisia's island terminal. Here the AG Reederei Norden-Frisia ferries leave for Norderney and Juist, the station is the end of the line from Bremen and Emden, and car + ferry are minutes apart. A day trip to an island almost always starts here. Norddeich itself has a compact promenade, the seal rescue station (raising orphaned pups), a kite-beach for beginners and a generous sandy beach between mudflat and dyke. The town of Norden with its Ludgeri church and Germany's oldest tea house sits 4 km inland. Summer brings SUP, shrimp-cutter trips, and mudflat tours with certified guides.
