Norderney

Norderney is East Frisia's elegant spa resort — Germany's oldest North Sea bath (since 1797) with Belle-Époque pavilions, a Kurhaus, and the famous "White Pavilion" by the beach. In summer the island train runs along Kaiserstraße, the Norddeicher Strand shifts its waterline twice a day, and the Bademuseum tells 200 years of seaside-cure history. Seven kilometres of sand, a low-traffic island village, the lighthouse in the dune crescent, the "Bade:haus" wave pool and over 50 restaurants. The island is a gateway to the Lower Saxon Wadden Sea National Park — mudflat tours run across to neighbouring Baltrum. Get there: ferry from Norddeich.
