Nordstrand

Nordstrand is a 49 km² peninsula between Husum and Pellworm, joined to the mainland by a 4 km causeway. For rural quiet but a central position between Halligen, Sylt and Eiderstedt, this is the spot: open marshland, a small harbour at Strucklahnungshörn (Pellworm ferry), and beaches along the Süderkoog dykes. Worth seeing: the Theresienkirche in Odenbüll (one of North Frisia's oldest brick churches), the Süderhafen beach-chair camp, and the Nordstrand salt meadows for birdwatching. Get there: car or bus 1041 from Husum. Dog-friendly outside high season.
